Pinspired By: Vintage Book Art

Have you guys seen those adorable prints of vintage graphics on book pages lately? I've seen them all over Pinterest, etsy, and even in person while we were in Santa Fe. They seem incredibly easy and like something I could whip together in no time!

First I would need some book pages to print them onto. That's where my nearest Goodwill store comes into play. I found this old dictionary there for $2.50. It looks a lot better off in the picture, but when you open it, the front cover and spine are completely detached from the pages and lays flat on the table. The good thing about that is it makes cutting the pages out so much easier. Once I had some pages cut out it was time to find a vintage-y graphic to print on them. That's where my latest discovery, The Graphics Fairy, comes into the mix. It's like a little treasure trove of vintage-y graphic goodness. While I was browsing around I found these adorable little cherries that I thought would look great in my bff Ali's kitchen. They would also compliment the personalized towels that our friend Jenna gave her.

To make printing on the book pages a little easier and to get my graphic centered I customized the page dimensions in Word. I also adjusted the margins to be the same size the matte. Once I had the graphic sized and centered I printed this out.

Tracing around the matte board makes knowing where to trim the excess off. Now slap that puppy in a frame and....

Instant art!

Here's a close up of a print. I love how the words are still clearly visible. However, maybe next time I will do a quick scan for any offensive or generally negative words (abomination anyone?). Or if you're the type that likes to leave subliminal message in your art for your friends to find then have at it!

I think they look so cute together. Hopefully Ali will think so too.
