Balloons!
4:14 PM I think there is something magical about hot air balloons. I think I fell in love with them after watching that Chipmunks movie where they are racing the girl chipmunks around the world, only to find out that they are part of an elaborate jewel smuggling ring. I think I spent the majority of a summer watching this over and over and over as a kid.
But I'm not here to talk about awesome 80's kids movies, I'm here to talk about the balloon glow.
Saturday Matt, Mike, Ali and I made the trip to The Springs (Colorado springs for those not in the know) to go see the balloon glow. It's part of their annual Labor Day Balloon Festival. They do a balloon race in the mornings, but that involves getting up early, being cold, and (most likely) disappointment. I remember going when I was a kid and I remember them not launching most of the time. Watching balloons come down is pretty depressing.
Anyway, the four of us met up with Mike's sister and Jenna (remember those terrible dresses we made from Pinterest?), who recently moved back to Colorado. Yay! Please forgive this terribly blurry picture. It is quite difficult to take pictures of people at the balloon glow and this is the best one I have of the three of us. Balloons = easy, people = not so much. Just use your imagination.
So if you're near Colorado Springs over Labor Day weekend you could head down to Memorial Park and have your own magical little adventure, minus the excitement of smuggling jewels. Well that and actually riding in a hot air balloon. But it's still pretty awesome!
What did you do over the holiday weekend?
