Hi! I'm Nikki. My day job is a hairstylist.  My hobbies include: skiing, watching tv, going out to eat, arts & crafts stuff, remodeling and decorating my house.

I dream big, but often that is just it, dreaming.  My lovely boyfriend, Matt, and I bought our home in July of 2009.  When we closed we thought our initial list of to-do's would be complete by Christmas.  Once February came and went without completing everything on our list the realization of all the time and hard work set in.  Why doesn't just talking about doing something count?  The desire is there right?  But with a renewed sense of the reality of renovating our home while having full time jobs and friends and family that want to spend time with us, I've learned to take a small step back.  I realize it will take me a few weeks to install hardwood flooring in a small bedroom and I'm ok with that.  Or having a beautiful settee that has sat un-upholstered for months.  I'll get to it eventually.  Or that it took me 3 weekend sessions to make a light that should have only taken a day.  Living my life is slightly more important than my latest project.  So I might not have the home I picture in my head as fast as I would like, but what I can do I'll share with you here.
